We are a loving couple from Sonoma County, California who met when we both started working at the same veterinary hospital on the same day. Two years later, in 2010 we exchanged vows in the Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona, Spain on the stairs of the park’s fountain. A year later, when it became legal in California, we were legally married at the courthouse. Although it sounds cliché to say it has been bliss ever since (which it has been!), there have also been times that have taught us so much. We have learned about ourselves as individuals and what it means to truly be a couple that loves and supports each other.

In 2015 we bought our current home, which is a beautiful three-level, four bedroom, four bath Sonoma farmhouse on four acres that was built in 1965. Freya is an amazing wood worker who has put such care in remodeling our home to make it a warm and inviting space. We love entertaining our friends and family with dinner parties, hanging out by the pool and playing cards and games. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area surrounded by vineyards and mountains while being close enough to the coast that we can spend days at the beach. On weekends we enjoy hiking, biking or experiencing some of the great local farms and farmer’s markets.

In 2019 Sophia left veterinary medicine to write her first novel and take care of our five dogs and the farm full time. Being a writer will enable Sophia to stay at home with our children. She loves gardening (especially harvesting olives from our orchard for our very own olive oil), reading, writing, hiking, biking, swimming, horseback riding, cooking and travel. She is a gourmet cook and loves nothing more than cooking her way through a new cookbook. We often have homemade pasta or pizza, delicious barbecues and unforgettable holiday meals. She is patient, loving, smart, funny and a supportive spouse.

The year after Sophia retired, in 2020 Freya started her own veterinary practice, which has taken off and is a huge success. As the owner of her business, Freya is able to make her own schedule and spend time with the family. Freya enjoys woodworking, hiking, hanging out with our dogs, catching up on Netflix shows, playing games and traveling. Our friends often joke that there is nothing in the world Freya can’t build, fix or do after watching a YouTube video or two. Our gorgeous master bedroom and laundry room are proof! She is smart, funny, incredibly loving, self-motivated and obviously quite handy.

Travel is a large part of our lives. We believe that seeing the world provides a wealth of experiences and a great education, teaching so much about culture, food, geography and so much more. Our travels have taken us across the United States to Oregon, Maine, Idaho, South Carolina, Georgia, Washington DC, Seattle and New Orleans. Our first trip together was to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and since then we have seen Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Azores and Hawaii. One of our favorite things to do is visit National Parks and Yosemite, Yellowstone and The Grand Tetons are our favorites. Although we have seen so much around the world we can’t wait to see it through the eyes of a child.

We have friends and family spread from Southern California to Oregon, Idaho and the East Coast. They are our “village” who give us love, support, guidance and friendship. Time spent together with them is cherished time filled with adventure and laughter. We are so touched by their excitement for us in our next adventure of growing our family. They can’t wait for our children to spend time together on family vacations, going to see Dodgers games and grow up together.
