Brenda and Scott
Hi – thank you for allowing us to introduce ourselves. We are Scott and Brenda and we are very excited to adopt a child into our family. We were both born and raised in New England. We have lived and worked in a few different places around the country and the world, but moved back to New England to be near our families and raise a family of our own. Brenda’s parents live fifteen minutes away in the house in which she grew up. She has three sisters and one brother. Her sisters also live within 15 minutes (one sister lives right around the corner from us). Scott’s mother and one of his two brothers also live in the area, so we have been very fortunate to be involved in the lives of our nieces, nephews and large extended family.
We live in a four bedroom house on a quiet street with our three year old son Jonathan and our dog Lizzy. Jonathan absolutely loves babies! He gets so excited to see a baby at the playground or in the park, and he plays so nicely with other kids. He’ll be a wonderful big brother – always looking out for his younger sibling. Lizzy is a beautiful, gentle black Labrador retriever who is great with kids and grew up with Jonathan crawling all over her. They chase each other around the house and the yard all the time. We live in a neighborhood full of families with a lot of kids and a wonderful sense of community.
We both attended college and will provide the same opportunity for our children. After college, Scott worked in the entertainment industry, most recently as a manager for a lighting and sound equipment company. Brenda started her career in accounting after college and has had various roles with the same firm for many years. Currently, Brenda is a partner in a large accounting firm, and Scott is a stay-at-home dad. We both grew up with a stay-at-home parent and feel very fortunate to be able to provide the same for our children. Brenda is able to work from home a lot, which is an added bonus, allowing us to have family meals together throughout the day and both parents can be around for the important milestones in our children’s lives. We love spending time together and with family & friends. We have an active lifestyle full of travel and fun activities. We have a second home on a lake in New Hampshire that we visit year-round (and have lots of visitors!). We swim, boat, paddleboard and go for bike rides in the summer. We ski (cross-country and downhill), snow-shoe, build snowmen and go sledding in the winter.
Both of us grew up in households full of love and respect with multiple siblings, and we want that same thing for our family. We are looking forward to raising our children with the important values of respect, love and hard work. We give back to our community whenever possible and are actively involved with a local organization whose mission is to help homeless families and children get back on their feet. Scott has volunteered his time to babysit children at the homeless shelter. He loves to read and does a wonderful job reading to the kids. We’ve seen how much reading and education can impact a person’s life and we’re excited to help others get those opportunities.
